Alex de Minaur & Katie Boulter’s Three-Day Tuscan Wedding at Borgo Santo Pietro in Italy

How Studio Sorores planned, designed and delivered a destination wedding that celebrated family, Italy and timeless British elegance.
When professional tennis players Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur envisioned their wedding, they wanted more than a beautiful venue. They wanted an experience that felt deeply personal; one that reflected their shared love of Italy, their families, exceptional food and understated elegance.
Studio Sorores were appointed to provide a complete wedding planning, design and guest experience service, working alongside the couple from the very beginning. From sourcing the perfect location through to the final farewell at the pool party, every element was carefully considered and seamlessly delivered.
The result was a three-day celebration in Tuscany that was later featured by British Vogue and Vogue Australia.
Katie wore a custom gown by Caroline Castigliano, later changing into a Vivienne Westwood wedding dress, and a custom mini dress by Grace Lane London (who also designed the bridesmaid dresses). Alex wore black tie by Ralph Lauren.
Finding the Perfect Italian Wedding Venue
Our journey began long before any design concepts were created.
Working closely with Katie and Alex, we undertook venue research and location sourcing across Italy before securing Borgo Santo Pietro, one of Tuscany’s most celebrated private estates.
The venue perfectly reflected everything they loved: relaxed luxury, extraordinary gardens, exceptional hospitality and an authentic connection to the surrounding Tuscan landscape.
From that point onwards, Studio Sorores managed every aspect of the planning process, including:

Creative direction and event design

Full concierge service for friends and family travelling internationally
On-site production and wedding day management
With guests travelling from around the world, our concierge team coordinated accommodation, transport, itineraries and guest communications throughout the celebration, ensuring every arrival and departure felt effortless.
A Welcome Dinner Inspired by Italy
The celebrations opened with an intimate rehearsal dinner set amongst the kitchen gardens of Borgo Santo Pietro, where guests experienced the incredible produce grown on the estate itself.
The design celebrated everything Katie and Alex love about Italy.
Long convivial tables were set up in the kitchen gardens near the cookery school and dressed with bespoke patterned linens, created exclusively for the celebration, inspired by traditional Italian interiors and the relaxed elegance of Tuscan dining. Playful paper goods, green detailed tableware, textured glassware and abundant seasonal flowers created an atmosphere that felt welcoming rather than overly formal.
Rather than importing a floral style, we worked collaboratively with the exceptional Borgo Santo Pietro in-house floral team, developing floral designs that celebrated the estate itself and reflected the colours and movement of the surrounding gardens.
Guests enjoyed family-style Italian cuisine made from ingredients grown on the estate while traditional Italian musicians created an atmosphere that immediately immersed everyone in Tuscany.
Historic Wedding Ceremony at Abbey San Galgano
The wedding ceremony took place at the breathtaking Abbey of San Galgano, one of Italy’s most extraordinary architectural landmarks.
For this celebration, the abbey was fully privatised and closed to the public, allowing Katie and Alex to exchange vows in complete privacy within one of Tuscany’s most remarkable historic settings.
The dramatic medieval ruins required very little embellishment. Instead, we designed elegant floral installations that complemented rather than competed with the architecture, framing the ceremony while allowing the extraordinary scale and history of the abbey to remain the hero.
Every design decision respected the remarkable surroundings, creating a ceremony that felt timeless, romantic and deeply connected to its setting.
Designing the Wedding Marquee
Following the ceremony, guests returned to Borgo Santo Pietro where dinner was held beneath a custom-designed clear-span marquee overlooking the gardens with a view of the Tuscan countryside and vineyards.
Rather than creating a space disconnected from the hotel, our intention was for guests to feel as though the interiors of Borgo Santo Pietro had simply continued into the garden.
Katie’s favourite colour, a beautiful deep green, became the foundation of the design palette.
To soften the richness of the space, we layered:
bespoke patterned linens
delicate blush paper goods
artisan ceramics
pearl-inspired detailing
candlelight
crystal chandeliers
romantic floral arrangements
The result was a dining environment that felt intimate despite its scale, balancing English refinement with relaxed Italian warmth. Every detail worked together to create harmony between architecture, interiors and landscape.
Guests celebrated late into the evening with dancing, fireworks and unforgettable moments with family and friends.
Celebrating Family Above Everything
Although the setting was spectacular, Katie and Alex always wanted the celebration to remain centred around family.
Throughout the planning process, every decision returned to that simple principle.
The wedding weekend was designed to encourage guests to spend meaningful time together rather than simply attend a series of events.
From long shared dinners and relaxed cocktail hours to the final poolside gathering on the last day, every experience reflected the couple’s belief that bringing everyone together was the greatest luxury of all.
As Alex reflected following the celebrations: “It felt like our own movie.”
