ITALIAN JEWISH WEDDING AT OLD ROYAL NAVAL COLLEGE, LONDON
We were given a creative brief inspired by The Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College in London - often referred to as the ‘Sistine Chapel of the UK’. It's safe to say we were pretty excited! To add to the excitement, the bride had previously studied Ikebana whilst working in Japan, so we talked for hours about how we could combine the magnificent baroque with minimalist Japanese design.
There were certain flowers that meant a lot to this client - protea, airplants and orchids were combined with garden roses, pampas grass and textured berries. We got really creative when it came to shape and the ingredients we chose, very much going against the rules of traditional floristry.
The aisle and staircase was decorated with vast eucalyptus garlands, trailing around lanterns. We had four large urns, two at the beginning of the aisle along with loose foliage and hurricane candles and two at the end of aisle. There were 280 guests in attendance and we had a very quick turnaround whilst guests had their drinks reception outside. Dark blue tablecloths were used to give a subtle nod to the naval influence, and were an excellent contrast to the flowers.
What a beautiful location for a wedding! Huge thanks to Ed Godden for the photos.
