BEST OF IBIZA: VENUES, RESTAURANTS & BEACH CLUBS

Last month I spent five days in Ibiza, exploring the island's venues, restaurants and beach clubs... as well as getting lots of design and interior inspiration for those Balearic or Mediterranean inspired weddings and events. We hired a villa as our base in Roca Llisa, and tried to fit in as much as possible each day (I obviously ate lots of amazing seafood washed down with sangria and the island's new "it" drink, a coconut chilli mojito.

Here is a list of the places I went and would recommend if you are planning a holiday, wedding or private party on the island.

CASA MACA

This was my favourite location we visited all week, which is interesting as it was also the first place we went on the day we landed on the island.

The food, the atmosphere, the interiors, the setting.... all amazing. It gets more lively later in the evening, which was great, with a DJ in one half of the restaurant. However it's big enough to choose a quiet spot if you prefer.

It would make an incredible location for a wedding as the renovated farmhouse location is also an event space for guests between 50-200.

You can book out the whole venue including the bedrooms or just host a wedding day here,. staying elsewhere on the island. There are 10 suites with a private balcony or terrace set in the gorgeous gardens, and it's just 10 mins from Ibiza town so super convenient too.

For a wedding there is what would have been an old threshing circle which is the perfect setting for a ceremony. Then for your reception the grounds and gardens are gorgeous, before a choice of meal with honestly the most amazing modern mediterranean cuisine.

BEACHOUSE

We had a friend DJ'ing at Beachouse so we decided to spend the day there and carry on into the evening for when the party started. As it happened, it was the one day we saw rain on the island, and so we chilled at the villa in the morning and made our way over for a late (and long) lunch.

I LOVED this beach club. I had the lobster paella which was absolutely delicious, before drinking my weight in champagne and cocktails. The restaurant was full and lively, turning into a bar/nightclub in the evening, but the beach tables and beds were where it was at. They had performers and face painters walking around and the whole night was magical.

There was an amazing childrens area with staff to watch little people if you are visiting with family, and I had to drag myself away from the shopping boutique more than once (actually, I have regrets that I didn't buy anything!). I didn't get a chance to try the yoga sadly, but judging by the rest of what they offered I am sure it was also top notch.

There wasn't an event manager on site for me to talk to abut private hire, but I would suggest this is a better location for a party or evening reception than a wedding.

EL CHIRINGUITO

I was really excited to try out the restaurant at this beach club and was not disappointed. We met some friends who were also staying on the island that week, and had the most glorious long and leisurely lunch together. I wanted to try everything on the menu but settled on fresh oysters, padron peppers, parmesan shavings with home made bread, jumbo shrimp and a seasonal salad.

We had tried to book beds in advance but they were completely full, so we decided to take a couple at the front which were publicly owned but still really good quality with towel hire and food/drink service.

My only complaint is nothing to do with the beach club at all really, and may have been to do with tides and weather, but there was a lot of seaweed on the beach before you entered the water. It didn't bother me so much as i just waded past it to the clear ocean beyond, but I can imagine it would be off putting for others.

You can hire the entire venue, or just a section of it, for a private event too. Breakfast, lunch or dinner!

I didn't see the kids club but heard they had one on site, which is super helpful for families, and again their boutique was super tempting!

ATZARO BEACH

By this stage I was flagging a little, one too many Ibiza party nights with old friends and colleagues meant I was feeling a little delicate.

This little slice of heaven was perfect! The beds were so comfy, the staff delightful (best I had on the island) with excellent service, and the extensive menu was delicious.

Once again I was drawn into the beach club boutique and this time actually weakened and bought a few pieces (love them just as much now I am home).

The only downside was that the water and beach itself is a little walk down (literally 5 mins), and you are not on the sand itself when you book a day bed at Atzaro. It didn't bother me because the views were sensational and the clean beach with clear blue water was heavenly - not too busy either.

This is a wonderful location for a wedding or private event too. With the spectacular sea views and amazing atmosphere it is the perfect location for amore authentic Ibiza style celebration. There is extensive terrace and dining space, with lounge areas, and it is a much more natural relaxed style for the bohemian luxury aesthetic.

AMANTE

I went to Amante for dinner on our last night in Ibiza, and I really wish I had found time to spend the day on the beach here.

The restaurant and location were both gorgeous, and the service fantastic. It has a really lovely atmosphere and feels a little more formal than some of the other beach clubs.

Amante is available for private events and exclusive hire for weddings and civil partnerships for between 60-120 guests. The idyllic setting and stunning views of the bay and Formentera make it an amazing location for a celebration. The elegant style and decor works perfectly when combined with the cliff top setting - the interiors are both clean and modern, with an organic bohemian twist that still gives you the laid back Ibiza atmosphere too. With three different floors, the venue can be split across the restaurant, beach bar and sand beach.
