GOODWOOD HOUSE WEDDING & PARTY VENUE
Throughout the year I spend a great deal of time researching and finding new venues across the UK for my clients as part of a selection process. Each project has a different brief - from guest numbers, to budget and preferred aesthetic or style - and I find it essential to have worked at or visited each space before recommending.
Last week I travelled to Goodwood House, a luxury country retreat in West Sussex well known for its festivals, horse and car racing every year An ancient historical property, but still home to the Duke and Duchess of Richmond, I was absolutely delighted to have a guided tour and personal look into the glamour of a great English country house, that somehow manages to keep a family feeling throughout the grand rooms.
What a place to throw a party! What I loved was that there were so many flexible spaces, so whilst a large venue it still felt really intimate and warm. The brochure is one of the best I have ever seen, with the most amazing chef using local produce to provide fine dining for guests throughout.
Your guests can also stay on site at the Hound Lodge with 10 bedrooms or Goodwood Hotel with 91 bedrooms, so there is plenty of space to give attendees an amazing weekend experience. I love the private members club The Kennels next door to the lodge too, another great informal party space for events and weddings.
I took time to have lunch at Goodwood Hotel's restaurant "Farmer, Butcher, Chef" which was absolutely delicious. An eclectic farmhouse country style space with a truly exceptional menu. I had the salt cod brandade to start, the pheasant with wild mushrooms for main, and followed by a clementine chocolate pud all washed down with a delightful glass of red wine.
The main house itself is the star of the show however, with a beautiful yellow room for your ceremony if hosting a wedding, a grand ballroom for dining, and a party space alongside multiple lounge areas and settings for family or couple portraits. The blue room was my favourite, just such a pretty delicately decorated cosy area.
Oh, and did I mention the absolutely charming butlers?
On request you can also have a marquee on the lawn in front of the house itself, though you need permission from the Duke via the event manager. That way many more guests can celebrate in this amazing venue!
