VENUE REVIEW: AVINGTON PARK IN HAMPSHIRE
Last week I had the pleasure of visting a stunning stately home near Winchester - Avington Park - which was recently sold to multi millionaire hotelier Nicolas Roach in 2020, and has undergone extensive renovations and redecoration since.
Whilst the mansion has been used as a wedding venue for many years previously, and much of it had been divided into privately-let flats already, there is definitely a far more luxurious touch to the property now.
The building has a fascinating history (and would be of great interest to international guests visiting the UK), with 20 bedrooms available throughout the private estate, which is unusual for private house hire in England.
Larger weddings would need to look at nearby hotels and shuttle cars or buses for the rest of their guests, but the huge and flexible spaces within the grounds are a big sell - as well as the flexibility offered on suppliers, including catering.
By far my favourite room was the pink ballroom with floor to ceiling windows letting huge amounts of light in, the perfect space for a ceremony or dance floor, but could absolutely be used to host a private dinner.
The orangery was the area I could envisage transforming most - it has so much potential to create a light, pretty Mediterranean style backdrop for a wedding breakfast or dinner party in the Summer.
